SUMMER JAUNTS:
Pride Weekend Around America

June is Gay Pride month across the world and in this week’s Z’Scoop Summer Jaunts we will bring you some of the unique celebrations going on across America in not only some of the larger cities, but also some reference material for Pride Parades and Festivals happening in smaller towns during the weekend of June 23rd – 25th.

NYC Pride March, New York City, NY
The first March was held in 1970 and has since become an annual civil rights demonstration. Over the years, its purpose has broadened to include recognition of the fight against AIDS and to remember those lost to illness, violence and neglect.

The March is a celebration of life and community. In 2016, over 350 unique marching contingents joined the March, representing a vast array of nonprofits, community organizations, corporate partners, small businesses, political candidates and activists! With over 80 floats making the trek down Fifth Avenue, last year’s March was one of the largest and most exciting in history.
