Someone in design utopia must have gotten hold of a copy of that 1958 single, “Short Shorts” by the Jersey rock group, The Royal Teens, because leggy looks with short-shorts abound this spring.
Paired with jackets, cropped tops or bralettes, they are feminine, cool, sexy and fun!
Marchesa paired silver micro-shorts with a cropped top under a shimmering metallic netting dress. Alberta Ferretti’s sexy 70s woven leather crop top and sexy black short shorts with a dangling belt are real head-turners.
Alexander Wang’s fetching, frayed black and white shorts, framed by a black net top and long, sleeveless army green vest are also must-haves.
From superheroes to mangas, some fashion designers have taken a comics trip this spring. Moschino’s pop messages and colors have supergirls, and evoke pop artist Roy Lichtenstein-like illustrations on clothes and accessories. Olympia Le Tan features 101 Dalmatians’ Cruella de Ville on a chic circular bag.
Karl Lagerfeld’s robot collection creates comic statements with colorful accessories. Marc Jacobs features a goofy cartoon alligator, and for women, film-inspired screaming faces are colorful and exciting.
Not just for women, short-shorts are for guys, too! Gucci, Prada, Levi’s all featured them this spring.
And at Kenzo, men have their own signature take on cartoons with hip, black and white graphic shorts, tops and a colorful men’s “cartoon” backpack.
In short, it’s shorts for Summer 2016!
