INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF ACTUALLY KEEPING NEW YEAR’S HEALTHY RESOLUTIONS

New Years resolutionsNew Year’s resolutions are a bit like babies: they’re fun to make but take lots of work to maintain. This year, stick with it by adopting some of these health-helping pointers.

 Back-to-Basics Exercise

More and more people are using their bodies, and not much else, to get in shape. Remember that calisthenics from grade school — push-ups, sit-ups, jumping jacks, and sprints? If trend forecasters are right, this could be the workout of the future.

Get Rid of Clothes That Don’t Fit

Empty your closet of clothes that no longer fit you and (if you need to) replace them with clothes that fit well. If you keep these constant reminders of a past self, you’re going to feel down on your present self whenever you see them. Instead, wear clothes that give you confidence.

Lose The Scale

There are better ways to gauge your health—a number on the scale doesn’t tell the whole story. At a higher weight, you might be stronger, faster, and leaner. Focus instead on the way that you feel and how you’re fueling your body.

Eat Smart

Focus on nutritious, quality foods rather than cutting calories. Opt for foods that that deliver plenty of nutrients to keep your body nourished. Do right by your body by eating well to keep it healthy inside, versus employing tricks to get a (often temporary) physical appearance.
